The calm lasts about a week. Then the week wins.

You know the feeling. Shoulders down. Phone in a locker. Steam, salt and silence, then a tea by the fire while the ducks cross the lake. You get in the car and say it out loud: I need to do this more often.

Then Monday happens. The calendar fills, the weekend price makes you put it off, and three months later you're looking at the photos. Not because you stopped wanting it. Because nothing was holding the space.

The SOL Bathhouse Membership holds the space. One session every week, already paid for, waiting for you on a lake in the hinterland. The only decision left is which day.

  • A once a year reset that wears off by Thursday.
  • Weekend prices that turn a soak into a special occasion.
  • A city bathhouse that feels like a gym with pools.
  • Good intentions and a full calendar.

The membership

A standing reservation with yourself, at the bathhouse that floats on Lotus Lake.

The maths, in case you like maths.

A Saturday session is $115. A Wednesday is $80. A member pays the same on either.

$59.95

Fifty two casual visits cost $4,160 to $5,980 a year. A year of weekly member visits costs this.

$3,117

Only make it 40 weeks of the year? Each visit still costs less than the cheapest casual session.

$77.94
It only makes sense if you come.

Once a week, or close to it. If SOL is a once a year treat for you, book a casual session and we'll see you then. The membership is for the person who wants it to be a rhythm.

Your week, your way

Monday reset. Wednesday silence. Saturday with your sister.

Fifty two sessions a year. Here is what four of them look like.

01

The Monday reset

Book the first session of the week before the week gets a vote. Serene sessions keep the music soft and the room quiet.

02

The midweek disappearing act

Wednesday and Thursday numbers are kept intentionally low. Ninety minutes where nobody can reach you, because your phone is in a locker.

03

Saturday, no surcharge

Weekend sessions are included at the same $59.95. Use your Bring a Friend pass and the sister who keeps saying "we should" finally does.

04

Date night at dusk

Friday and Saturday the bathhouse is open until 8pm. Share the fire pit, then book a couples float or massage with your member discount.

I've visited quite a few different bathhouses over the years. But the tranquility that you experience at SOL is next level!

The outdoor pools open up onto a natural lake and the bathhouse feels like it's part of nature. From the tubs you can watch dozens of swallows, pigeons, ducks and other birds. It's absolutely amazing!

Whether you're treating yourself to some solo time or looking for somewhere to completely switch off and relax as a couple, this is the spot. The setting is simply divine and the whole environment instantly makes you slow down.

Bathhouse was clean and comfortable, and they do a wonderful job of bringing a sense of peace and calm - which is exactly what we needed. Worth the premium price and will be recommending to friends!

I have been to many bathhouses but this one is special.

We loved the location and layout of the place, which has clearly been very thoughtfully designed. The DIY body-scrubs were great and it was nice to sit by the firepit in the dark and drink a herbal tea before getting back to the serious business of sauna'ing and plunge pools!

Yakisugi cedar, hand charred on site
The place

Built by hand on a lake, by two people who moved to the mountain.

Russ and Shae Raven moved to Tamborine Mountain, fell for the mist in the trees, and spent four years building SOL: a circular bathhouse over the water, inspired by the Japanese idea of Wabi Sabi. Russ learned the art of Yakisugi from master craftsman Kenji Nishishita and charred the cedar walls himself. The onyx, fossil coral stone and raw timber were chosen by hand.

Every product used is organic, from the Earth Lab scrubs and the teas to the laundry. The water runs through ozone and UV purification. And the whole place is phone free, because presence was the point.

SOL is quite literally, our heart and soul.

How it works

Three steps to your first week.

01

Reserve your membership

Leave your details below. It takes a minute.

02

We confirm your start date

The SOL team is in touch within one business day to set up your weekly billing and book your first session.

03

Book your session each week

Choose your day online, arrive 15 minutes early in your swimwear, and your towel is waiting. Then do nothing, beautifully, for 90 minutes.

Is this you?

Who the membership is for, and who it isn't.

This is for you if

  • You live within an hour of Tamborine Mountain and a weekly drive into the rainforest sounds like the point, not the problem.
  • You have been to SOL, or a city bathhouse, and left saying you need to do this more often.
  • You want a ritual you keep, not a treat you ration.
  • You like the idea that Saturday costs the same as Wednesday.

It is not for you if

  • You come to the hinterland once a year. Book a casual session instead; we will see you then.
  • You are pregnant. The pools, saunas and steam rooms are not permitted during pregnancy; the Alchemy Spa has pregnancy safe treatments for you instead.
  • You are under 18. SOL is an adults only sanctuary.
Before you join

Everything you'd ask before you join.

Yes. Your session is valid any day of the week, including weekends and public holidays, at the same $59.95.

Sessions are weekly and do not roll over, which is the point: the membership works because the week is held for you. If you are travelling, you can pause with two weeks' notice.

Yes. Book your day and time online each week; midweek sessions have the most room. Serene and Social session options are shown when you book.

It is an intimate bathhouse, not a resort pool. Wednesday and Thursday numbers are kept intentionally low, Serene sessions are the quiet option, and members who want silence tend to go midweek. Weekends and Tuesday offers are busier.

Your membership is personal and non transferable, and includes one Bring a Friend pass a month for a guest who has not visited before. Friends can also book a casual session for the same time.

Swimwear, worn throughout. Towels are provided and Signature SOL robes are available to hire. Scrub ingredients and tea are included. Sign the online waiver before your first visit and arrive 15 minutes early.

In a locker. SOL is a phone free sanctuary and photography inside is not permitted, which is the reason the place feels the way it does. The change rooms and showers are communal.

SOL is at Tamborine Mountain Glades, Tamborine Mountain Road and Cedar Creek Falls Road, about 50 minutes from Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Open seven days from 9am.

Yes. Billing is weekly. Pause or cancel with two weeks' notice; there is no lock in contract.

The pools, saunas and steam rooms are not permitted during pregnancy, so the bathhouse membership is not suitable while you are expecting; the Alchemy Spa has pregnancy safe treatments. Other medical conditions must be disclosed on arrival and some need clearance. Call the team on 07 5616 9999 before you join.
